A meeting was held yesterday at Bethlehem Municipality with the team of NAKOPA's program the supporter of the Joint Services Council for Tourism Development in Bethlehem Governorate, to review the progress of the work and the most important challenges, in the presence of the Mayor of Bethlehem Adv. Anton Salman, NAKOPA's program director Ms. Britta Melmo, the director of the municipal partnership project in the Middle East and North Africa Ms. Venke Muller, Bethlehem Municipal Councilors  members Dr. Khader Alshalash and Ms. Shireen Bandak Mauge, along with the  staff and the technical committee members.

Salman emphasized on the importance of the joint work of the municipalities in order to develop tourism in the governorate, pointing out other successful partnerships such as the Joint Service Council for Solid Waste Management and the Joint Service Council for Planning and Development. Moreover, he talked about the importance of developing the partnership with the German side to attract more tourists from Germany to visit Bethlehem.

From her part, Melmo thanked Salman for the welcoming and his interest in the project and its continuity. In addition, she emphasized on the importance of the sustainability of the project to benefit from the tourism sector Bethlehem.

After that, the Director of JSCTD Mr. Charlie Zidan gave a presentation about the Council and its work, activities and challenges. The meeting was followed by a visit to the Council office and the Church of the Nativity.
