Scholarship to study French in Montpellier

Bethlehem – Montpellier program

As part of the twinning between the city of Bethlehem and Montpellier, the city of Montpellier offers the opportunity to a student from Bethlehem to study for 10 months, to take a French course at the Institute of French Studies for foreigners (IEFE) at the University of Paul Valéry. The student will benefit from a scholarship offered by the City of Montpellier in particular accommodation conditions.

1. Qualifications of candidates
• Students must be between 18 and 26 years old.
• Be resident in Bethlehem.
• Never have participated in the program between Bethlehem and Montpellier.
• Hold a bachelor's degree.
• Have a good knowledge of the French language.
• Submission of a complete file to the municipality of Bethlehem before the deadline: April 30, 2018.

2. Procedure
• The city of Montpellier sends the project to the municipality of Bethlehem
• The mobility program will be sent by the municipality of Bethlehem to interested candidates. (At the beginning of April)
• Applicants must submit completed files to the municipality. (end of April)
• The participant of the program will be selected by the municipality concerned. (may's beginning)
• The municipality of Bethlehem will send the files of the selected student to the municipality of Montpellier. (no later than May 25, 2019)
• Arrival of the selected student in Montpellier on September 1st, 2019.

3. Requirements of the student file
• CV.
• Letter of motivation written in French.
• 1 photo ID.
• Birth certificate and its certified translation in French
• Photocopy of the first page of the passport (valid for the entire duration of the stay in France)
• Photocopy of the secondary school diploma and its certified translation into French
• Photocopy of the French language certificate DELF / DALF or TCF (minimum level B1)
• Complete pre-registration form for the IEFE (https://iefe.univ-montp3.fr/images/pdf/en/1-bulletin-pre-inscription-cours-semestriel.pdf)

4. The program includes
• The City of Montpellier will pay registration fees to the Institute of French Studies for Foreigners, Paul Valéry University of Montpellier.
• The student will receive a monthly payment scholarship of 500 euros for 10 months. (Prorated)
• Weekly 10-hour internship in the international department of the city and metropolitan area of ​​Montpellier ("Attractiveness, Tourism and International Relations Department" - City of Montpellier and Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole).

PS
Accommodation will be reserved for the selected student in a university residence. The student will pay the rent cost for a monthly amount of 368 euros (2018 rate). The student will also receive each month a housing allowance paid by the State of France of approximately 160 euros
Expenses for travel, visa, student social security, catering, local transportation and other personal expenses will be borne by the student.
