About the twinning agreement

Bethlehem Municipal Council approved a request from Pavia for a twinning agreement which was formally signed in November 2006 when Mr. Victor Batarseh, the then mayor of Bethlehem, visited Pavia. In 2007, Pavia sent a donation to buy the Christmas lights, followed by a visit from Mr. Vaggi of the University of Pavia. The Rotary Club of Pavia also requested the identification of possible areas of cooperation. In May 2008, a group from Bondon Petello visited Bethlehem and a video was created between a school in Pavia and the Terra Sancta College for Boys in Bethlehem. Furthermore, in September 2009, a pilgrim group from Pavia brought a ‘suitcase of peace’ to the children of Bethlehem and in December of the same year Mayor Alessandro and his wife came to Bethlehem to participate in the Christmas celebrations.
