About the town
Monsummano Terme is town in the Province of Pistoia in Tuscany, central Italy. It is considered a popular spa resort. Monsummano Terme is composed by two separate parts: Monsummano Alto, which is of Etruscan origins and with a castle and a line of walls, and the lower Monsummano, which was built in 1602 around a sanctuary commissioned by the Grand Duke of Tuscany. The town was the birthplace of the French actor Yves Montand and Italian poet Guiseppe Giusti.
