About the town

Situated in the northern Italian region of Veneto, part of Padua province, the town is a center of agriculture, industry and crafts. It contains several historical sites and attractions, such the Church of Santa Tecla, Church of San Martino, Church of the Salute, Church of Santa Maria della Grazie, and the national museum of Atestino.

 

About the twinning agreement

In May 2006, a twinning agreement was signed between Bethlehem Municipality, represented by its then Mayor, Mr. Victor Batarseh, and the Municipality of Este, represented by its then Mayor, Mr. Fani Mengutu. The agreement aimed to improve the following:

1. Exchange cultural and religious experiences among young people from both cities to develop an open and tolerant environment and help build democracy.

2. Vocational and administrative training targeting small and medium industries, especially the agricultural, tourism and cultural sectors and non-governmental organizations.

3. Vocational training for the social health sector, especially the care of minors and people with disabilities.

4. Development of tourism, especially religious tourism.

5. Technical assistance for the rehabilitation of the environmental and municipal historical areas.

6. Technical assistance and consultancy in the management and infrastructure projects.

7. Economic cooperation between small and medium industries.
